Pandas!!!

Posted in 2D artwork on January 28, 2012 by KennyMcB

I’ve always been a fan of pandas. After recently watching a documentary on China’s wildlife, I’ve become fond of the red Panda as well, even though they’re more like racoons than bears. Still pretty cool though.

As for the the 30 day consecutive drawathon gauntlet. My schedule kicked my butt and I slipped on a week. I’ll keep with it as I can. Here is a shot from my doodle-book from a sketch session with coworkers and a piece I just started.

Day 3 – Oh No!

Posted in 2D artwork on January 20, 2012 by KennyMcB

This has never happened to me in all my years of using Photoshop. I had saved my sketch when I got it roughed out. An hour in a half later, I realize that it’s getting late. So I decide save and upload what I have, but… When I hit save, I got an error telling me I didn’t have enough RAM and as I researched a solution after taking the obvious measures, Photoshop crashes… Lame.

It’s late, so here is what I was working on when I sketched it out…

Day two of the Doodle Gauntlet!

Gauntlet of Doodles

So a friend and coworker (Max Gon)  brought to my attention that he and some other arsty guys in the industry were going to be doing a 30 day sketch challenge. The idea is to simply do one sketch a day for 30 days and I figured I’d partake. I’ve been pushing myself to do more art outside of work.

Here is day one…  ‘Amazon-lady-chick-with-a-pole-arm-thingy’

I’m going to steal your knowledge…

A New Year and Some Doodles…

Posted in 2D artwork with tags , , on January 6, 2012 by KennyMcB

Wrapped up the year with some good times and found myself with a handful of doodles that I figured I’d share. Through out December I managed to go out with some coworkers and friends and get back into the mood of sketching. I’ve started carrying around a small sketchbook and found myself in some inspiring doodle settings. Here are some of the sketches I’ve compiled together.

Been listening to a lot of horror themed music lately…

My minds on Halloween!

Posted in 2D artwork on October 19, 2011 by KennyMcB

I like Halloween themed stuff year around, but now it’s the appropriate time for such themes, so  I got in the mood to doodle up something. Maybe I can get around to rendering it soon. The characters are loosely based off ones I doodled back in high school…

Also did a sketch of my girlfriend Danielle a while back, haven’t finished that either, but here is where it stands…

It’s been a while…and some Figure Drawing.

I was noticing It’s been almost exactly a year since I’ve posted here. I’ve been trying to do more personal work on the side of work lately, I plan to post some of that soon. Over the past few months I’ve been joining in on some figure drawing sessions. So here’s a few compilations of some of my doodles.

Streets of San Francisco WIP

Posted in 3D artwork on July 13, 2010 by KennyMcB

When I was in San Francisco for GDC 2010, one thing I loved about the city was the streets and buildings sloping up and down hillsides. On a few mile hike uphill from the pier to downtown, I took tons of pictures of random buildings and the scenery. Having wanted to make an environment for a few projects now, I decided to use all the reference I photographed. I’ve got plans to make a 3-4  building sets that have repeatable assets, along with street-side props to recreate a sudo section of  San Francisco.

Here is a quick mental ray render of some of the geometry I’ve pieced together in Maya.

Game Artisans is already planning another mini-comp to be announced on the 14th. I may be juggling multiple projects once again. I’ve seen a handful of really well done realistic characters, so I’m going to also reach in my folder of old dusty projects and work once again on some sculpts I started a while back. Instead of focusing on the complexity of an entire character whilst approaching other projects, I feel this will be good fun and practice to focus on a bust.
